
The ORWC is situated in the Northern Cape region, in the Lower Orange ward. The group comprises of a collection of 5 co-operatives which span a vast length of 348 km along the Orange River. Together the co-ops form the largest winery in the Southern Hemisphere, with approximately 6% of the total South African vineyards under their control. The fact that the vineyards are spread over such a large area means that they have unrivalled access to varying micro climates, terroirs and fruit
The ORWC are able to produce a vast array of wines at all price points and in commercial quantities, and even their experimental vineyards are significant in size. The scale of the cellars is extremely impressive and they form an integral part of the area’s economy, employing over 13,000 people during vintage time
