The Tukulu wines are produced as part of a Black Economic Empowerment initiative
The consortium managing the venture comprises of a group of local black business men, the local Groenekloof community and Distel, with the ultimate goal of becoming a fully owned and managed local black community business

The name Tukulu comes from the name of the soil which dominates the vineyards, a rich loam that produces grapes of the highest quality. Their winemaker Aidan Fry, a recent graduate of Stellenbosch University, has already established a reputation for great winemaking and has been recognized by both the Platter Guide and ABSA
